I started reading 1984, and though I'm only 41 pages in, it's impressive to reflect on the real world through the book. I'll likely make more posts like these, as I like to reflect on this.
Of course, I already read that passage about women being the main supporters of The Party, but what I just read, and what made me write this, is the conversation in the cantina about development of Newspeak, and how they're removing words from Oldspeak (normal English) to make communication more efficient and Though Crime impossible. This parallels really well with the destruction of education, but also the way younger people seem to communicate in certain groups.
Being a gamer myself, I do know the efficiency of BRB, BIO, MB, etc. in mlutiplayer contexts, but this isn't as much Newspeak as it is coded language, which is similarly used in different professions.
