As I sit here amidst rolling blackouts in Knoxville due to power consumption, it's a good reminder of how things could get bad if they keep pushing this green agenda or if we get into conflict and are hacked by a foreign entity. I currently can't work, everything is closed, can't cook, no hot water. I'm worried movie night can't happen, so I'm looking for a generator so we can 100% do this.
We are slaves to modernity.
However if I were in my cabin (that's being built soon) with a well house, wood stove and had my 5000 lb propane tank and solar array (yes I'm going that large) I'd be able to heat my home with a wood stove, run electric, cook, have hot water etc. and wouldn't even notice the hickup for perhaps months if not years.
Obviously a good portion of guys aren't in the place near retirement like I am and could afford to do this, but if I were in my bus, I'd be able to better than I am now.
Even my bus had solar, 100gal fresh water, small water heater, cook plate and a wood stove with cellular wifi (100gb per Mos). If I were in my $14k bus I'd be better off than I am now in a downtown apartment. I'd be warm, cooking, with hot water and wifi probably playing a game, and instead I've got a blanket over the dog and sitting quietly reading (not a bad thing really).
I'm not saying to avoid modern convenience, just look for ways to have it make you independent from the rat race. Someday very soon you may wish you had.
That 5k land and 15k tiny home may look like a mansion given the right circumstances.
