Took 3 hours since I-40 was closed, but I got there. 7 hours round trip.

I didn't see really much damage in Asheville; the art river district was badly damaged, but that's only part of the city. The grocery stores were full, with the exception of refrigerated/frozen items, but there was plenty of bottled water, canned and dry goods, even veggies were fine. Hell, I could have even ordered a Starbuck's coffee in the grocery store made with bottled water. The bathrooms were out of commission.

The town in general wasn't bad at all in my opinion. I did go to a donation site, and it was being manned by Coast Guard reservists. They were friendly and asked what I needed when I pulled up in my car. There was only one other car there other than mine, and they got some bottled water, but other than that no one else was donating or picking up. They weren't taking donation so on I went. More water is wet stuff, but it's another validation that unless you have the looks, the rest really doesn't matter.
