Yay I didnt die!
I didnt die. It was close. As many of yall know im a pipefitter. Back to work this week. We did a pressure test on a cooling loop yesterday. Well the part outside attached to chiller. Supply/return. It held so before we left we let air out of pipes. Today I was gonna take off the pressure test pieces n put some 90s on. First one came off no issues. I even double checked by reading the gauge, opening air valves, pulling gauge.... Little whisp of air. Go to other one. Get first bolt off clamp, get started on 2nd bolt and BOOM!!!!
Somehow was still pressurized air in that end of line. 70psi+. The electricians on the job came runnin when they heard it. Somethin hit building, my hat landed bout 15 ft away, knocked impact outta my hand n slammed me against block wall.
No idea how high the flange/blind combo went up in air. Luckily since it was a riser I had my head off to the side since the bolts were horizontal. The air pressure kinda burned my face cuz it still stings. Also dumb ...
